Welcome to Kratie

Kratie, my home, a place full of memories. A land where the Mekong flows softly and life follows a peaceful, unhurried pace. Kratie is rich in attractions, from the over-200-year-old Rokakandal Temple with its breathtaking Khmer architecture, to its natural beauty and distinctive local foods such as Kralan (bamboo sticky rice), Nem (fermented fish cake), and the Koh Trong pomelo, found only in Kratie. The province is also known for its natural wonders, including freshwater dolphins and the giant barb fish—rare species that make Kratie truly unique and a source of deep pride. Its food culture is equally diverse, as reflected in the artworks, featuring everyday dishes like Bai Sach Chrouk, Nom Banh Chok, Nom Pao, and Nom Kong, shaped by a blend of Khmer traditions and minority communities such as Teochew Chinese, Phnong, and Vietnamese. Western foods like pizza and sandwiches can also be found in tourist restaurants, adding to this cultural mix. Kratie’s identity is symbolized by Garuda over Naga, a powerful image of protection and harmony. The Freedom Roundabout, represented by a white dove atop a globe, is another meaningful landmark that reflects the spirit of the province. Experiencing all of these elements together creates a feeling that is often unnoticed, yet remains deeply felt.
